Cost and payments

How much does a Shopify migration cost?

A migration project typically costs between €5,000 and €15,000 + VAT. The final price depends on the number of products and orders, the platform you are migrating from, your integrations and the pages you need.

Prices are in euros. Invoices are issued in lei, at the BNR exchange rate on the invoice date. You get a fixed quote after the free analysis, before we start.

How much does Shopify cost per month in Romania?

In October 2026, a Shopify subscription for a store based in Romania costs 139 lei per month on the Basic plan, 369 lei on Grow and 1,940 lei on Advanced, if you pay monthly. If you pay yearly, the price is 125 lei, 329 lei and 1,750 lei per month, about 10% less. Shopify Plus starts at €2,100 per month. Prices do not include VAT.

In addition to the subscription, you usually pay for apps (reviews, invoicing, shipping, email marketing), a paid theme if you choose one, and your domain. In the free analysis, we calculate the total monthly cost for your store, not only the subscription.

What payment fees does Shopify charge?

It depends on how you receive payments. Shopify Payments has been available in Romania since March 2023. With Shopify Payments, you only pay the card fee, which starts at 1.9% + 1.25 lei per online transaction on the Basic plan and is lower on higher plans. The money reaches your account in 3 business days, in euros or in lei.

If you use another payment processor, such as Netopia, PayU or EuPlătesc, you pay the processor fee plus a Shopify transaction fee of 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced. Shopify does not charge a transaction fee for cash on delivery. In the analysis, we show you which option costs less for your sales volume.

Risks

Will the migration hurt my current Google rankings?

The risk is real, so we treat SEO as a separate stage of the project. Shopify uses its own link structure, so the addresses of your pages change. Before launch, we set up 301 redirects from the old addresses to the new ones for all active products, all categories and collections, and your top 1,000 landing pages in Google Search Console. We keep your existing meta titles and descriptions.

After launch, we monitor crawl errors and 404 pages in Google Search Console for 15 days. Ranking changes in the first weeks are normal. Rankings usually become stable within a few weeks, depending on the size of your store and on how quickly Google recrawls the new addresses. We cannot guarantee rankings, because they also depend on Google and on your competitors, not only on us.

Will my store be offline at any point?

Your current store keeps selling while we build the new store in parallel. The store is offline only for a short time on launch day, when we connect your domain to Shopify. This usually takes 30 to 60 minutes, and at most 2 hours if there are complications.

We recommend launching from Tuesday to Thursday, between 9:00 and 11:00, and we avoid weekends, holidays and peak seasons. Just before launch, we transfer the customers and orders created since the first migration, so no data is lost. On launch day, we stay on a live call with you and test the store, the checkout and the payments.

How do you transfer customer data, order history and product data?

We use a programmatic migration process. We transfer your products (titles, descriptions, SKUs, prices, images, variants and inventory), your customers with their saved addresses, and your order history linked to each customer.

First, we run the full migration in a test environment and check that the data is complete and correct. You receive a migration report with statistics and any errors we found. The design and the theme are not transferred, because the platforms are different. We rebuild them in Shopify.

Customer passwords cannot be transferred, for security reasons. This is a standard limitation across the industry. In the new store, customers sign in with a one-time code sent by email.

Can active subscriptions be migrated without losing billing data?

It depends on your current payment processor and on the subscription app you use in Shopify. In many cases, payment details can be transferred and subscribers do not need to enter their card again, but not in all cases. We check this in the first analysis and tell you before we start.

If the transfer is not possible, we propose a plan for subscribers to update their details with as little interruption as possible.

Process

When is a migration to Shopify not worth it?

Not every store needs a migration, and we prefer to tell you this before the project, not after. A migration is usually not worth it when:

  • your current platform works well and the real problem is traffic or marketing, which a migration does not solve;
  • your sales are still low and you cannot recover the cost of the migration in a reasonable time;
  • your store depends on integrations or B2B rules that have no equivalent in Shopify;
  • a peak season, such as Black Friday, is close, so it is safer to migrate after it.

If the analysis shows that you are in one of these situations, we tell you directly.

What does the free analysis include?

You receive an analysis of your current store that covers:

  • the data to migrate: number of products, customers and orders;
  • your current apps and integrations, and their equivalents in Shopify;
  • SEO risks: how many indexed pages you have and what needs redirects;
  • payments and subscriptions: what can be transferred and what cannot;
  • your estimated monthly cost on Shopify;
  • a fixed price and a timeline for the project.

There is no obligation to continue after the analysis.

What happens after I request the analysis?

  1. We contact you to clarify a few details about your store.
  2. We ask you for access to your current platform or for data exports, so we can count your data correctly.
  3. You receive the analysis and the quote.
  4. You decide whether you want to continue. If you do not, you keep the analysis anyway.

Working together

How long does a migration take?

A migration with a new website usually takes 8 to 12 weeks. This includes the data migration, the new website, SEO and redirects, email automation and the launch.

We count the time from the day we confirm that we received the advance payment, full access and the materials we need: platform access, domain and DNS access, brand files and product data. If these arrive later, the timeline moves by the same number of days.

What do we need from you?

  • Full access to the admin panel of your current platform, and to the database or data exports, if needed.
  • Access to your domain and DNS settings.
  • Your brand files: logo, colors, fonts and brand guidelines, if you have them.
  • The content for your pages, such as category descriptions and legal pages.
  • Your decision on what data to migrate, for example all customers or only active customers from the last few years.
  • Your feedback in the review rounds, collected from your whole team in one document.

How many rounds of changes are included?

Two rounds of changes are included. In each round, you have 7 calendar days to send your feedback. The time we need to make the changes depends on how many changes there are and how complex they are, and we confirm it after we review your feedback.

Please send all feedback from your team in one document for each round. New features, new pages or a major change in design direction are quoted separately.

Will we be able to manage the store without developers?

Yes, for daily work. We choose a Shopify theme that already has the features you need and add apps for extra features, instead of changing the theme with custom code. Your team can manage the store without extra development costs.

Up to 5 hours of training are included: Shopify Admin, order processing, products and content, and daily operations.

What support do we get after launch?

You get 15 calendar days of support after launch, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 18:00, with a reply within one business day. In this period, we fix any bug related to the migration or the launch: payments, emails, cart and checkout, mobile display, links, 301 redirects, the apps installed in the project, the domain and SSL.

After the 15 days, you can continue with a monthly retainer, with support hours on demand, or with a separate project for new features.
