The Project
iSTYLE.ae, a leading retail brand in the UAE, wanted to move from Magento to Shopify Plus to improve the customer experience, simplify operations, and expand across multiple markets in the MENA region. The migration aimed to improve site performance, provide Arabic support with right-to-left (RTL) language options, and integrate various features to meet the diverse needs of the MENA market. We collaborated closely with iSTYLE to ensure an easy transition to Shopify, with customized features that improved their eCommerce experience.
The Process
For iSTYLE.ae, we developed a detailed migration plan to ensure the accurate transfer of product, customer, and order data from Magento to Shopify. This involved adapting the product data to Apple’s specific formatting requirements and setting up 301 redirects to ensure smooth URL mapping and prevent any SEO issues.
We then focused on Arabic localization and RTL support, ensuring that every page was properly aligned with regional cultural and language preferences. The old Magento site didn’t fully support RTL and lacked adequate Arabic localization, a critical gap that was addressed in the new Shopify Plus site. This change ensured an easy browsing experience for Arabic-speaking customers.
To meet the diverse needs of the MENA market, we customized the user experience (UX) and improved conversion rates. Features like Click & Collect (BOPIS) enabled customers to pick up their online orders in UAE stores, offering greater convenience. We also added delivery messaging for 4-hour and 24-hour fulfillment, improving the overall delivery experience. These features greatly improved the site’s operational capabilities compared to the previous Magento site, where such options were either unavailable or less user-friendly.
Additionally, we set up automated email flows to engage customers throughout the sales journey. This included cart abandonment emails, order confirmations, and post-purchase emails, all designed to nurture relationships and increase conversions.
Shopify Store Design
The new Shopify Plus store for iSTYLE.ae boasts a functional, regionally optimized design. With RTL support, the site provides an easy browsing experience in Arabic, catering to the local culture and shopping preferences of MENA customers. The design improvements offer a modern and professional look, with an intuitive layout that makes browsing and shopping easier. Key features like delivery messaging for fast fulfillment, store pickup, and advanced Upsell features were added to improve the customer experience. Compared to the old Magento site, the new design offers a significantly improved user experience, reinforcing iSTYLE’s strong position in the market.
New Features and Integrations
We added several new features to the new store for a better shopping experience:
- BOPIS (Buy Online, Pickup In Store): Data from the middleware is sent to Shopify as a metafield for easy handling on the front end, enabling customers to select store pickup at any UAE location.
- Custom ERP and PIM Integration: We worked closely with iSTYLE’s in-house team to integrate their ERP and PIM systems, ensuring product information was synchronized across platforms. This improved backend management and simplified operations.
- Automated Email Workflows: Automated workflows like cart abandonment reminders, order confirmations, and product recommendations were set up to engage customers and drive repeat purchases. These sequences are designed to increase conversion rates and improve customer retention.
